Real Men Love Pink (Lemonade)

When I approached my husband with my Labor Day dessert idea, he responded enthusiastically. “I’ve been thinking that pink lemonade sounds really good lately.”

Tomato, Interrupted

Growing up, we ate tomatoes straight from the garden with dinner just about every summer night. Each meaty slice was individually salted and peppered on both sides (a crucial step that cannot be skipped), and then promptly devoured.

My favorite sandwich to this day is still a Tomato Sandwich: crusty white bread piled high with thick tomato slices, a dab of real mayo, salt, and fresh ground black pepper. That’s it. There’s no need to screw it up with meat. Or cheese. Or fake mayo. Read the rest of this entry »
Success. Sort of.

My definition of success… not eating the chocolate chip cookie dough that has spent the last two days singing its sweet siren song from the back of the fridge. Out of sight, but no where near out of mind.
So I waited 36 hours and baked 12 5-inch cookies. Big cookies. Chewy cookies. Chocolatey cookies. 4 with milk chocolate melting discs, 4 with Tcho Chocolatey, and 4 with Tcho Fruity. What did we think?
