About Me

Why “Foodie Bride”

‘Cause that’s what I am! Or was… “Bride” was 5 or 6 years ago. We’ve now even moved on to mom. I do wish that “foodie” wasn’t associated with “food snob” because I detest the snobbishness that surrounds food. I have very few rules when it comes to food. Food is meant to be savored and shared – good food makes people happy.

About Us

Foodie Bride & Groom

We are newlyweds who actually do have interests outside of cooking and eating… like drinking. We are home vintners, having bottled a Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, a Cab, Barolo, and a supercali-fantastic Port. The Foodie Groom has also taken up craft brewing. And most of our time and energy is devoted to the newest and cutest addition to The Foodie Family: It’s a girl! The Foodie Baby joined us in January 2010.

Camera & Photography
The allure of food photography is to make the food look as good to you as it tastes to us. I do most of the cooking and baking for this site on the weekends to take advantage of the beautiful, straight-up noon natural light that floods the first floor of our home. There are no real secrets to pretty food photography but you need good lighting and you need pretty food.

For great photo advice, check out this post over at Culinary Concoctions by Peabody and Ellie’s tutorials over at Kitchen Wench.

I shoot with a Canon 40D and usually the 50mm/f1.4 lens… or 50mm/f1.8 when the Nifty Fifty is at the manufacturer getting repaired :(
