Giveaway #8: Cute Aprons!

by Shawnda on December 8, 2012

in Giveaways

ASD Living Fantasia

It’s the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways! On the 8th day of Christmas, there were cute aprons.

I am a recovering apron hoarder. I still have a small (not small) weakness when it comes to seeing a cute apron hanging on a rack. But through compromise, I know have only 1 drawer in the kitchen for aprons. I can stuff as many aprons in there I can, but as soon as the drawer won’t close – it’s game over.

To enter the giveaway, simply answer the following question in the comments below: If you’re celebrating Christmas, or just cooking up a feast for two, when does the “big meal” happen – Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

Update: The random generator thingy has spoken: Alaina with comment #373 and Jess B. with comment #193 are the winners! Please check your email for instructions on claiming your prize. The elves are waiting!

We celebrate Christmas Eve with a big dinner with my family and then repeat a big Christmas Day lunch with Jason’s family. And then it’s diet time.

You can earn up to 4 extra entries by:
– Tweet about the giveaway (it’s easy, just click here!) and leave the link to your Tweet in the comments.
– Leaving a separate comment below that you like us on Facebook.
– Leaving a separate comment below that you follow the blog’s Instagram feed.
– Leaving a separate comment below that you follow my mad recipe pinning and house projects that I wish I could pay someone to do for me on Pinterest.

(Extra entries can only be counted if left as a separate comment – your comment # is your entry.)

Good luck!

The fine print:
– Maximum of five (5) entries per person.
– Giveaway ends at 12:01am (Texas time!) on December 13th.
– Winner will be selected by one of those cold, soulless, unfeeling random number generator thingies and announced on this post after selected.
– Two (2) winners will receive an ASD Living Apron in style Fantasia (maximum retail value of prize = $35).
– Prize must be claimed within 7 days or it will be forfeited.
– Winning “extra entry” comments can be subject to verification.
– Prize can only be shipped to a US address.
– All prizes are provided by Confections of a Foodie Bride, unless stated otherwise.
– Official giveaway rules can be found here.

THis is even worse…we have a big dinner Christmas Eve, then Christmas brunch AND an even bigger Christmas feast! Way too much food in 24 hours, but I cannot get anyone to change their minds!

THis is even crazier…we have a big dinner Christmas Eve, brunch the next day as well as an even bigger dinner Christmas Day! Way too much food in 24 hours, but no one except me wants to do it differently!

We do Christmas eve and Christmas day. Plus, this year I have to cook a second Christmas dinner for me and my husband, who is away on business, a few says later!

Depends on the year!

20 Catherine December 8, 2012 at 6:26 am

We have always done a big Christmas Eve dinner of homemade manicotti and other Italian specialties! Yum! When I was little, my dad would make the pasta from scratch, but now that doesn’t happen every year.

59 Kelly December 8, 2012 at 8:00 am

We also have two meals, one with my side on Christmas Eve – the “traditional” Italian Christmas Eve dinner (where traditional equals fried seafood) – and then a dinner with my husband’s side on Christmas Day. This year, I’m starting a new tradition of brunch for my husband, son and me on Christmas morning – just a quiet time for us to sit back and enjoy eachother and then a good Christmas movie (Home Alone).

I cook on Christmas day. We have a tradition of doing a breakfast casserole for brunch and then dinner is late – 6 or 7pm. But it’s not nearly as big as thanksgiving. Usually it’s ham, 3-4 different veggies and homemade rolls.

We have two big meals. First, a big breakfast, prior to touching a Santa gift…with the whole family gathered around the table and the children bouncing with excitement. The adults anticipate this meal, the children anticipate peeling the paper off a Santa gift and gladly clear the table to move onto the next step. The second big meal is late afternoon, with our once a year prime rib and all the trimmings…followed by trays of incredible Christmas cookies. My mouth waters just thinking about it!

I wish it were that simple. We’ve got a Christmas marathon that stretches through his Uncle’s Christmas soiree (very chi chi) on the 23rd, to Christmas Eve with a million cousins, to very traditional Christmas on Christmas with his family, to a Boxing day with my dad’s family. I’m never going to need to eat again.

For years we had a big family Christmas morning breakfast. Everyone came when they could between 8am and noon-bacon, sausage, home fries ,morning glory muffins, pancakes, and eggs cooked to order. I miss those days pf short order diner cooking!

207 Chelsea December 8, 2012 at 3:42 pm

We do two different “big” meals with different sides of the family, but our immediate family does an elaborate Christmas Eve brunch every year, and it’s my absolute favorite. And then we watch It’s a Wonderful Life and nap :)

208 Bridget December 8, 2012 at 3:43 pm

Both, duh! :) We do fondue on Christmas Eve, and I always stuff myself silly – the cheese dip is so dang good! We haven’t decided what we’re doing for the Christmas feast yet, but I’m sure it’ll be delicious. Probably not as delicious as cheese fondue though.

We do our big dinner on Christmas Day. Christmas Eve is as big a day as THE day with the decorating of cookies for Santa with the kids and several traditions we maintain. We sit together with hot chocolate before bed and we each have a poem for Christmas, each kid and each adult. We sing and we end the night with a prayer for all those soldiers who cannot be with their familes and to bless all the children of the world. I love that night as much as I do the big day.

We have big dinner on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day is about the presents and Christmas parade and eating leftovers while lounging around :)

406 Katie December 9, 2012 at 9:18 pm

We have two big meals. The night before (eve) we do one at my mom’s house. She does all sorts of Italian treats. The next day we do a meal at my house. Extended family joins on Christmas day.

We usually drive about an hour and a half north to visit my family on Christmas Eve and have a big dinner (but not a traditional holiday meal) before driving all the way home to finish packing, then fly across the country Christmas Day and have our big Christmas meal with my inlaws in Michigan. Depending on what time we get in, we usually delay the holiday meal until the 26th.
