KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer Giveaway - Onyx

It’s here! Finally! The last week of Birthday Christmas in July! My friends and family are thankful. They haven’t heard the b-word from me all month. And I bet they’re hoping I’ll do this every year :P

The Foodie Groom would say that we saved the best giveaway for last. And I’d say that picking a favorite would be like choosing between your four children… if your children could stylishly carry all your groceries, make margaritas, save your new white shirt from a splattery mess, and whip up a swiss meringue buttercream without so much as breaking a sweat.

This week, we’re giving away a KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer in the color of your choice. To enter, simply leave a comment below and tell us: What’s the first thing that you’d make with a new stand mixer?

Me, I’d slap the whisk attachment on give it a workout with something that I’d never attempt by hand in a million years. Like homemade marshmallows.

The fine print:
- One comment per person.
- You can earn two extra entries by:
– Leaving a separate comment that you follow us on Twitter.
– Leaving a separate comment that you like us on Facebook.
- Giveaway ends at 11:59pm (Texas time!) on Friday.
- One winner will be selected by one of those cold, soulless, unfeeling random number generator thingies and announced on this post on Saturday.
- Winner may pick any color stand mixer or a gift card to Amazon or Williams-Sonoma (maximum value of gift card or mixer = $300).
- If prize isn’t claimed within 7 days, a second winner will be selected.
- Due to freight limitations, the mixer can only be shipped within North America. International winners will receive a gift card.

Good luck!

What’s the first thing that you’d make with a new stand mixer?

I could make swiss meringue buttercream, because i’ve been so intimidated by it! I think a stand mixer would trade the feeling of intimidation away and turn it into an exciting feeling!!!!! :)

810 Amy Johnson July 25, 2011 at 10:49 am

816 Christina July 25, 2011 at 11:00 am

Well, I’ve been thinking a lot about the coming of fall recently, and those flavors, so I’d probably jump right in and make my mom’s famous coffee can pumpkin bread. :)

Cinnamon rolls!

827 Jocelyn W July 25, 2011 at 11:21 am

I’d test out it’s power and knead function by making some yeast bread. Everyone always blogs about how easy it is to make bread with the KitchenAid mixer so I want to try it myself!

854 michelle vantine July 25, 2011 at 11:52 am

I would make my vanilla buttercream frosting for my most delicious strawberry cocoumut summer cake. Being newly pregnant… I want the cake SO badly but I don’t have the energy to stand there with the hand mixer…. so this would give me the opportunity to introduce my little soon-to-be angel to my favorite summer cake. PLEASE pick me! :) … for the baby’s sake! :)

855 Teresa July 25, 2011 at 11:52 am

I would make a chocolate-hazelnut birthday cake for my fiance. It’s much more daunting to think of making all the components to the cake without a nice mixer!

I would make chocolate chip cookies for my lovely boyfriend. Because he requests them weekly.

859 Erin H. July 25, 2011 at 11:59 am

I’d make German whole rye/spelt bread! The husband is German and won’t eat anything else. I love it too! But it’s such a pain to stand there for 10 minutes with a hand mixer and mix super dense dough. So definitely Vollkornbrot. :) (and I would immediately then make something way more exciting and less healthy, like your chewy peanut butter cookies recipe, which I can’t wait to make)

860 Erin H. July 25, 2011 at 12:00 pm

890 Jamie July 25, 2011 at 12:45 pm

Oh wow first I would faint if I won this, then after I got over the shock I would make macaroons in different flavors. I have heard they are rather challenging to make but with a Kitchenaid mixer I would definitely stand a better chance at conquering them.

891 Jamie July 25, 2011 at 12:45 pm

I totally heart you on facebook!

892 raja ali July 25, 2011 at 12:50 pm

I would totally make pizza dough. Especially since it’s ridiculously hot this week, and I’d love to fire up the grill (instead of heating up my oven) so I can have my favorite dinner – grilled pizza!

924 miki July 25, 2011 at 2:11 pm

The first think I would make is probably angel food cake or flourless chocolate cake. All that egg white whipping just takes forever with a handheld mixer!

925 Zivin Lawless July 25, 2011 at 2:11 pm

Banana Bread

926 Kelly July 25, 2011 at 2:14 pm

I would mix up tons and tons of cookies to sell at work for St. Jude. My husband and I are running in St. Jude’s half marathon this December so we’re fundraising for our Heroes team right now.

927 Toni July 25, 2011 at 2:14 pm

I would use it as my dedicated, gluten-free mixer. Since I just found out I need to be gluten/dairy/casein free, it would be a big help to use it for those kind of recipes. :)

I actually already have one (love it!) but I’d give it to my sister. She’s really into baking cookies lately and my favorite kind is the stand mixer chocolate chip cookies (you need beat cold butter into sugar for like 8 minutes so doing it by hand would be pretty impossible!).
